While this might seem like nothing new for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan, the updated 2010 model impresses with slightly larger dimensions, sharper bodylines, more high-tech safety technology and a lower starting price than the 2009 model.

Slightly larger inside and out, the E-Class sedan competes against such premium models as the BMW 5 Series, Infiniti M, and Cadillac CTS. Sitting an inch lower to the ground, Sport sedans have squared-off exhaust tips, "twist" rocker panels and a grille with three horizontal bars, above a massive air intake. Luxury-model grilles contain four bars, with a smaller air intake.

Interiors feature an abundant selection of hand-polished burl walnut wood. The sedan's gearshift lever has moved from the floor console to the steering column, operated electronically. Five-level Ambient Lighting, taken from S-Class sedans, aims to reduce eyestrain. E550 Sport sedans have a three-spoke steering wheel with thumb notches (optional for E350 Sport), versus a plain four-spoke wheel for other models. Seats are 14-way power-adjustable.

Heading the list of safety features is newly standard Attention Assist, a drowsiness monitor that tries to alert a dozing driver. Steering-angle sensors consider more than 70 variables, starting with your profile, over the first 20 minutes of driving. An audible warning is accompanied by display of a coffee-cup icon. Standard enhanced Pre-Safe Braking can provide partial or full-power braking in emergencies. Nine airbags are standard, including driver's knee and pelvic bags.

Additional safety items are optional. Radar-based Distronic Plus maintains a pre-set distance from the car ahead, working like an "invisible rubber band," according to Bernhard Glaser, general manager for product management. Night Vision Assist Plus recognizes pedestrians ahead, using twin infrared beams. Adaptive Highbeam Assist automatically provides the best possible illumination, reaching up to 1000 feet ahead. Lane Keeping Assist uses a camera above the windshield to analyze lines in road, delivering three steering-wheel vibrations when the car begins to leave its path. Blind Spot Assist monitors the area 10 feet back and 10 feet to the side.

Today's Mercedes-Benz sedans are lighter on their feet than those from a few years back, while roomy and comfortable for long-distance treks. On reasonably smooth surfaces, occupants of an E550 Luxury sedan can barely discern bumps and other road imperfections. Even when a jolt occurs, it's stifled virtually instantly, transmitting minimal annoyance to the interior.

Mercedes-Benz offers U.S. buyers a choice of two engines, both available in either Luxury or Sport trim level. In E550 sedans, a 5.5-liter V-8 again develops 382 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque, driving a seven-speed automatic transmission. E350 sedans contain a 3.5-liter V-6, still rated at 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet.

Estimated fuel economy is 18/25 miles per gallon (city/highway) for V-6 models, and 16/23 mpg for E550 sedans. Mercedes-Benz's transmission can skip as many as three gear ratios when downshifting, depending on the situation. A Hold function prevents "creep" at stoplights. Instead of coil springs, an Airmatic air suspension is installed on all V-8 sedans.

Transmission downshifts with the V-8 engine are not only impressively smooth, they occur promptly. Gear changes are hardly discernible. Expect assertive, refined acceleration at any speed. On certain surfaces, one Luxury sedan experienced slight steering-wheel vibration; other models felt fine.

Luxury-sedan steering feels too light and slow-responding to suit some drivers, so that sedan doesn't feel wholly comfortable on curves, or even some straight-aways. Shoppers who favor the most confident control might prefer a Sport V-8, which sticks to the pavement with greater tenacity. Steering feels a tad tauter, more in accord with directional changes.

As expected, response is more ordinary in a V-6 model: sufficiently strong, but lacking the V-8's finesse. Still, the V-8 commands a sizable extra cost. In any version, seats keep you neatly in place. Front space is ample all around, though headroom could be a tad higher. The center controller knob isn't easy to decipher, but must be studied.

On sale since June '09, the rear-wheel-drive 2010 E350 sedan has a Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price of $48,600 (plus $875 destination charge). That's actually $4,600 lower than the equivalent 2009 model. Choosing an E550 raises the tariff to $56,300; plus another $2,500 if you want 4Matic all-wheel drive. All-wheel drive sedans go on sale in September, followed in November by the superstar 518-horsepower E63 AMG sedan. Mercedes-Benz also intends to introduce a BlueTec diesel sedan next spring.

BMW Z4 Vs Porsche Cayman Does It Matter

Among the compact sports autos, the BMW Z4, Porsche Cayman and Porsche Boxster stand out. But which is you? And why did BMW and Porsche wait so long before making the coupes? There's no Boxster coupe, but the Cayman is almost the same thing - but uprated.

It might appear strange the 2 German companies, well-known for high-performance and sporty vehicles, waited to announce their coupes at the same time. The answer lies in why they introduced the roadsters in the 1st place.

Porsche wanted a new, smaller model to increase its market coverage. Not everyone loves the 911, and not everybody would like a coupe. So it made sense to go for the mid-engine layout - the 911 is rear-engined - and the better balance that gives in designing the Boxster. At the same time, the addition of an open-top dragster would also increase sales. And both tricks worked.

But what about BMW? Well, BMW wished to build cars in the States, and did not want to build the same autos it built in Germany as that would increase costs. So it decided to build a roadster for the US market, even though it would be marketed somewhere else.

At that time there had been more potential volume for a boulevard cruiser kind of two-seater than an out-and-out sports car in the United States, so the BMW Z3 was born. It was a rather tall car for a sports automobile, and although a hardtop was offered, it looked peculiar, making the car look even taller than it was.

Z4 more sporty than Z3

The BMW Z3 did not really catch on in Europe, so the Z4 was designed as a more sporty vehicle than the Z3, and with its 3-liter engine which develops 265 bhp, is a good match in performance for the Porsche Boxster. Meanwhile, Porsche decided to fill out its range with an additional model, to be priced between the Boxster and the 911. In reality, the Cayman relies on the Boxster, but has more sporty suspension, and has a bigger engine. Now, though you can get a Cayman with a 2.7 litre engine as well as the 3.4 litre job. The Boxster gets 2.7 and 3.2 liters.

Because Porsche makes flat-six engines, it can easily produce engines of different capacities from 2.7 to 3.8 liters, and many parts are shared by all of them.

If you're looking for a sporty automobile, then you will desire to look at the Z4 3-liter, which produces 265 bhp, and reaches sixty miles per hour in 5.5 seconds, a time matched by the Boxster 3.2. The Cayman is a fraction quicker, getting to sixty miles per hour in 5.3 seconds. Mind, if you need maximum performance from these vehicles, you can get the BMW Z4 M, with over three hundred bhp on tap.

Choosing between Z4 and Cayman

But when it comes to the choice between the Z4 and Cayman coupes, you will be influenced by which one looks better. Although the Z4 looks miles better than the Z3 it does have a few quirky lines, which don't appeal to everyone, and the coupe is no better.

The Cayman has the sometimes slick Porsche lines, with a long tail and built-in spoiler which looks rather good. On the road performance is not much different, and both have super engines and gearboxes, but they don't do things in quite the same way. The Cayman is a fantastically balanced car that may be driven fast with confidence, but if you need to hang the tail out, the Z4 might be more to your liking.

Both are great sports autos, and will give you a lot of fun. What else should you consider? Nissan's 350Z is also quite a car, with a lusty V-6, the Mercedes-Benz 350 SLK 350 and new Audi TT are also worth taking a look at.

Dodge Muscle Cars

Dodge muscle cars were winners at America's drag strips well before they took their place among the country's fastest and wildest street-going super cars.

Chrysler's excitement division was a force in the Super Stock drag wars of the early 1960s, and the company's advertisements of the time bragged of the exploits of its factory-sponsored Ramchargers team.

The source of these bragging rights was a lineup of remarkably powerful engines. For 1960, Dodge's hot D500 option could be teamed with 361- or 383-cid V-8s crowned with an outrageous ram induction intake manifold that balanced dual four-barrel carburetors outboard of the valve covers. One of its vehicles that were definitely liked by the public was the Beretta. Chevy fanatics were left hanging because of the vehicle’s disappearance after just a few periods on sale.

What could be the reason behind the vehicle’s disappearance?

In 1988 Chevrolet unleashed a more fuel efficient vehicle through a small two door coupe – the Chevy Beretta. There were 6 different models that Chevrolet made throughout the Beretta's life cycle: the base model, GT, GTU, GTZ, Z26, and the very rare Indy.

On its first existence, the Chevy Beretta has two engines. There was the 4 cylinder 2.0L engine. For better acceleration, the Beretta has an optional a 2.8L V6 with a manual transmission.

As the traditional era evolved into a high tech one, the exterior of the coupe changed. But was what greatly noticed was the huge improvement in the vehicle’s under car parts. From 2.0 to 2.2, the cheaper 4 cylinders even grew more in size to 2.3. The V6 lines of engines used the popular 3.1L that delivered over 140hp.

From 1988-89, the GTU special Beretta Model went on sale. With the colors black, white, and red, the GTU had stiffer suspension and was capable of 0.92 G on the skid pad.

Produced from 1990-1993, the GTZ was the high-performance Beretta. Standard on this vehicle was the Oldsmobile's 2.3L High Output Quad 4. This produced 180 hp (134 kW) and 160 ft•lbf (217 N•m) of torque. The Getrag 5-speed manual transmission and GM's FE7 performance suspension were also included in the list of standard equipments.

With more refined Chevy Beretta parts, the vehicle in 1994 came with an optional 3100 series engine, a more powerful one. Though the said engine seemed to be enough for such a light car, it was not still enough for the Beretta manufacturing team. They manufactured the Quad Four which had 4 cylinders that pumps out over 210hp. However, the Chevy fans were in dismay because the innovation was made only in limited quantity.

In 1990, the Indy was manufactured. It featured excellent looking ground effects, more eye appealing style with striking exteriors. It was generally a good looking sports car. It had the colors of bright Sun Fire Yellow and Turquoise, and it offered a convertible as an option. However, the Chevy fans, for the second time, were kept hanging. Only 3 convertible yellow Indy's were produced and sold in the market.

Due to two major factors, in 1996, Chevrolet halted the production of the Beretta. The first reason was that the competition for rights over the name brand 'Beretta' was being lost to a gun corporation in Germany. The second reason was that the Beretta definitely cost high due to the limited quantities, short lifespan with rare models and Quad 4 option.

About Chevrolet Beretta

A front wheel drive coupe, the Chevrolet Beretta was produced from 1987 through 1996 by the General Motors’ Chevrolet division. It was built based on the GM L platform in Wilmington, Delaware and Linden, New Jersey. Among its family members based on the platform are the Chevrolet Corsica and the Pontiac Tempest sedan, which was only sold in Canada. The Beretta was engineered in the same design studio as the Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette Chevrolet - in Exterior Studio 3.

The sales of the Berettas continuously declined every year of production as its fans did not seem to appreciate the two-door models anymore. And in 1996, Chevrolet ended production of both the Beretta and Corsica.

The Corsica would be replaced by the 1997 Chevrolet Malibu. But the Beretta had no replacement.

Fix Up Your Car: Window Tinting And New Leather Interiors

Older cars require a little tender, loving care in order to improve their looks. You need to do something extra - such as car detailing - if you want to take your car to the next level. However, many people falter here by choosing useless car detailing products that achieve nothing other than emptying the wallet. Following is some
car detailing information that you can use for making your car shine delightfully.

Some of the basic car detailing products that you would need include micro fiber towels, a first-class wash bucket, a good car wash brush, and a high-quality car wash mitt. Luckily, fresh alternatives for detailing accessories keep appearing all the time.

Car Wash Mitt - Individual preferences plays a considerable role in the choice of car wash mitt. It is preferable to use a car wash mitt made of genuine woolen material. Such Wash Mitts give a better experience and can grasp plenty of soap water for a scratch less wash.

Polishing Towels - These should be specially made for glass clean-up and paint buffing. It is better to have polishing towels that has no noticeable edge binding; as such a design thwarts any possibility of paint disfigurement from the toweling. The detailing towels should be particularly designed for the car’s surface, as this assures improved outcomes with less work.

Car Wash Brush - See that you get one that is safe on all surfaces and fits comfortably in your hand. It should be able to give a meticulous yet soft cleansing.

Car Duster - This can be used to get rid of light dust on the surface just before the wipe. Having a soft mop head is good for all kinds of paint colors. It is also better to go for a superior quality Micro fiber Dusting Wand.

While good accessories enhance the detailing results; crappy accessories only increase the work for you. So see that you buy your car detailing accessories from a reputed seller; you can use internet car detailing reviews for this.

2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid Review

There's a common misperception that U.S. automakers are behind some imports in technology and fuel efficiency. That may have been true some years ago, but it could not be further from the truth today. Both Ford and GM have become quality and fuel economy leaders in the last few years, especially from the highly competitive mid-size segment up. Chrysler still trails in both but is working hard and fast to catch up. Don't believe us? Check the numbers.

The EPA estimates for the ultra-fine new Fusion and Milan Hybrids are an impressive 41 mpg city and 36 highway, which beats Toyota's '09 mid-size Camry Hybrid by eight and two mpg, respectively. They are, Ford says, the most fuel-efficient midsize sedans in America.

The conventional Fusion and Milan, nicely restyled and much improved for 2010, offer the mid-size segment's best gasoline four-cylinder fuel economy, more powerful available V-6s, class-exclusive technologies, including blind spot detection and warning with cross traffic alert and Ford SYNC, and more total passenger and luggage capacity than the Camry. The Fusion's new look is more upscale, sportier and aerodynamically slicker. But the most exciting news is this all-new Fusion Hybrid. Together with its Mercury Milan Hybrid counterpart, it joins the Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner (compact SUV) Hybrids to double both the size and volume of Ford Motor Co.'s hybrid lineup.

Among this next-generation system's key features are an ultra-efficient new 2.5-liter four-cylinder "Atkinson cycle" engine good for 155 hp and 136 lb.-ft. of torque mated to an electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission, or "e-CVT." Intake Variable Cam Timing (iVCT), enable seamless transitions from gas to electric and vice-versa, while both spark and cam timing are varied according to engine load to optimize efficiency and emissions. Enhanced electronic throttle control reduces airflow on shutdowns, which reduces fuel need on restarts, and a "wide-band lambda sensor" analyzes air-fuel ratios and adjusts the lean/rich mixture to keep the system in balance and minimize emissions.

The new 275-volt nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery is smaller, lighter and optimized to produce 20 percent more power. Cooled by cabin air, its improved chemistry allows it to run at higher temperatures, and an added variable voltage converter boosts voltage to the battery to operate the motor and generator more efficiently. A "smarter" climate control system with an electric air-conditioning compressor minimizes engine usage by running it only as needed for heating and cooling.

The brake system delivers full regenerative braking (when the drive motor becomes a generator), backed up by friction braking as needed, to capture nearly 94 percent of the energy normally lost through friction in braking and send it back to the battery. And, as we noticed during our drive, it delivers improved brake pedal feel compared to the previous system.

The hybrid system also allows the Fusion and Milan Hybrids to operate longer at higher speeds in electric mode than competitive systems. They can run up to 47 mph in pure electric mode, approximately double the speed of some competitors. "Because our hybrid can run at a much higher speed in electric mode, you can do so much more in city-driving situations," says Ford Hybrid Applications Manager Gil Portalatin. "Under the right conditions, you can drive in your neighborhood or in mall parking lots without using a drop of gasoline." With the 41 city and 36 hwy ratings, Fusion and Milan Hybrids can achieve a driving range of over 700 miles on a single tank of gas.

It uses two high-resolution, full-color liquid crystal display (LCD) screens flanking the speedometer that can be configured to show different levels of information. The approach is multi-layered: A tutorial mode helps drivers learn about the system and its instruments, while tech enthusiasts will enjoy detailed gauges that help them become more efficient. The system even "grows" vines and leaves on-screen to reward efficient driving.

Drivers can choose one of four data screens: The basic "Inform" screen displays battery charge and fuel level status; "Enlighten" adds an electric vehicle mode indicator and a tachometer; "Engage" adds engine output power and battery output power; and "Empower" adds power to wheels, EV power threshold and accessory power consumption. All levels can show instant fuel economy, fuel economy history, odometer, engine coolant temperature, transmission gear and trip data—fuel economy, time-elapsed fuel economy and miles to empty. There's even an engine coolant temperature indicator that turns green when the engine is warm enough to allow engine shut-off and restart for full EV operation.

autoMedia.com providing quality automotive information designed to enlighten and entertain the most discriminating car enthusiast, is a team of accomplished automotive journalists serving consumers automotive advice they can trust. The only problem is you can’t really buy one. There are a few available, but they’re very expensive. As a result, a lot of people are taking their gas-powered vehicle and doing an electric car conversion. You just need to buy a building electric car kit and follow the directions.

What does this involve? You simply need to remove the internal combustion engine of your regular car and put in an electric motor and batteries. That’s it. When you’re done you’ll be driving a zero-emissions vehicle that costs far less than anything using gas.

An electric car conversion can immediately boost the resell value of your car. You also won’t have to maintain and repair your electric vehicle as much. Electric engines have fewer components, and most of them don’t move. You will need to replace the batteries every few years. That’s pretty much the only expense.

If you want to do an electric car conversion, you have to buy a building electric car kit first. You can buy one that comes with parts, but these are expensive. You can also buy much cheaper kits that are detailed sets of instructions that show you, step-by-step, how to set everything up and perform the conversion.

Some of these kits also show you how to get hold of all the parts and tools you need for very little money. Sometimes even for free. These kits can be bought and downloaded right from the internet. A few come with some helpful videos. Many recall the station wagon as that faux wood panel sided vehicle from the 70s, loaded with kids, prepared for any vacation. Today's station wagons are quite luxurious and not the station wagon of old, as technically most SUV's are considered a modern form of a station wagons - just to name one way they have changed.

The definition of a station wagon is any passenger automobile whose body style has a roofline that extends into the rear cargo space. This does not include hatchbacks, as the full height of the cabin does not actually extend all the way to the back as it slopes into the hatch. Station wagons also have side windows over the cargo area, whereas some hatchbacks have thick "C" pillars and no cargo area windows. According to Wikipedia, there are only two exceptions to this rule which include Rambler station wagons (1952–62) on which the roof line subtly dipped down over the cargo area, and GM's Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser (1964–72) and Buick Sport Wagon (1964–69) on which the rear roof section was slightly elevated and combined with three (1968-69 Buick, 1968-72 Olds) or four (1964–67) skylights; the "sportwagon" name has been popularized again in recent years by some manufacturers. Certain models of Land Rover have also been described by the manufacturer as station wagons (even in British usage); as these vehicles had a tall wagon-like body with extra "alpine lights", or windows, above the cargo bay side windows.

The first station wagons got their name due to being used by train companies. The vehicles were originally called "depot hacks" because they were used around train depots as hacks (short for hackney carriage, an old name for taxis). They also came to be known as "carryalls" and "suburbans". The name "station wagon" is a derivative of "depot hack"; it was a wagon that carried people and luggage from the train station to various local destinations.

Prior to the mid-1930s, hardwoods were used by most automotive companies in framing the passenger compartments of their passenger vehicles. In automobiles, the framing was sheathed in steel that was then covered in colored lacquers for protection. Eventually, all steel bodies were adopted because of their strength, cost and durability.

Because early station wagons were used for commercial purposes, for many years they were considered commercial vehicles rather than consumer vehicles. In 1922 Essex introduced the first affordable enclosed automobile, which then shifted the auto industry away from open vehicles towards meeting consumer demand for enclosed automobiles. Station wagons too, began to be enclosed, especially in higher price categories.

As time went by, the car companies themselves began building their own station wagons. Star (a division of Durant Motors) is usually credited as being the first car company to offer a factory-built station wagon, beginning in 1923. By 1929 Ford was by far the biggest seller of station wagons. Since Ford owned its own hardwood forest and mills, it began supplying the components for a Model A wagon (although initially some final assembly would still take place away from the factory. The same year, J. T. Cantrell put woodie bodies on Chrysler vehicles (persisting until 1931).

Traditionally, full-sized American station wagons were configured for 6 or 9 passengers. The basic arrangement for seating six was three passengers in the front and three passengers in the rear, all on bench-type seats; to accommodate nine, a third bench seat – often facing backward, but sometimes facing forward or sideways – was installed in the rear cargo area, over the rear axle. In Ford and Mercury wagons built after 1964, the configuration was changed to two seats facing each other, placed behind the rear axle.

Newer models are usually built on smaller platforms and accommodate five or six passengers (depending on whether bucket or bench seats are fitted in front). Full-size SUVs such as the Chevrolet Suburban and Ford Expedition have similar features to the aforementioned full-size station wagons; such as 9-passenger seating with bench seating in the front.

Despite the size or year, station wagons have come a long way since originating at train stations. People have come to enjoy having enough room in their vehicles of which they can carry family, friends and belongings anywhere they would like.

Greg Chapman of Greg Chapman Motors is a knowledgable and leading provider of used cars, trucks, and SUV’s. Within 15 minutes you can install chrome mags and the look of your car is totally different, from boring to show stopper. Everyone likes the look of aftermarket wheels, but how do you choose the right rims for your sports car?

Custom mag wheels are available from so many aftermarket wheel manufacturers it is truly amazing and the list grows every year. Some of the most popular names include Eagle wheels, Chip Foose rims and Weld wheels, to name a few. When choosing aftermarket wheels you can get cheap prices which sometimes means cheap quality or you can spend a little bit more and be 100% completely satisfied with your purchase. You get what you pay for, so you have to make sure you know what type of quality you are getting. But quality can be very expensive, so can the style of the wheel.

Wheel styles range from regular 5 spoke alloy wheels, to wire wheels, to the latest and greatest, chrome spinning wheels that run up to $3,000 per rim. Chrome spinning rims are the newest invention to hit the custom car crowd, "chrome spinners" as they are called actually spin, even while you car is standing still!

Now back to how to choose your rims, if you are looking stricly from an appearance perspective, then it's easy, just choose custom wheels that you feel fits with the style of your vehicle and your personal preferences. If you want perfornance for racing, then light alloy wheels are the best way yo go. Steel rims are no good, they will only slow your automobile down. Heavy wheels add unnecessary weight to your car, which in return lower the driving performance.

If you do lots of city commuting in traffic, then alloy wheels are a great choice. Alloy rims actually offer cool air flow over your car's brake system which will prevent overheating. Alloy aluminum wheels are lighter than chrome or steel wheels you can also improve your gas mileage slightly.

Another tip to help the performance of your auto is to install rims that are one or two inches larger than the stock factory wheels. Larger wheels also give your SUV truck or sports car a more sporty look and feel. Also make sure the custom wheels you purchase have a maximum-load rating compatible with your vehicle, and you have to find wheels that match the bolt pattern of your automobile.

The offset is also very important If you install the wrong offset size, there will be problems with the steering and handling of your car, so make sure to find the right offset. A sales person at the wheel shop will be able to help you choose the right offset for your vehicle, so don't worry if it sounds complicated.

Where can you buy wheels from? You have a few choices here, you can shop at the local car accessory store or you can shop online for your wheels. Each has their own benefit. If you shop at a brick and mortar store you can touch and feel the rims before you and if you have questions a sales person can answer your questions. If you shop online you have less help, but the benefit is in the savings, you can save hundreds of dollars compared to retail stores. It's a give and take situation, if you have the knowledge I suggest you shop online, why pay more if you don't have to.

Be sure to swing by CorvetteGuys.com and check out their gigantic selection of
Corvette Performance Parts.

Cheap 350Z Body Kits

Nissan is a well known brand name among cars and the Nissan 350Z car is one such car that is well known. They are masculine. They are high-performance. Those words regularly spring to mind when one speaks of the classic muscle car. These cars are regarded as some of the finest examples of the time when Yankee automobile production had reached its zenith. The classic muscle automobile, with its trim design, convertible top down and unusual suitability for drag racing, has reached a fame that has earned it a place as one of the signature car design movements of modern automobile history.

The classic muscle vehicle design is one that does not stress power over appearance. Instead, the design embraces both the power of the machine and the aesthetics of the design. These vehicles have larger engines than conventional vehicles, are bigger than the average sports car, and have a toughness of frame that other kinds of cars do not have. The typical definition of what a muscle automobile is has a tendency to exclude any vehicles made outside Australia and the US, and even then, only vehicles made in the years between 1964 to 1973. Among some of the more popular models are the Dodge Charger, the Chevrolet El Camino, and the Plymouth Road Runner.

These machines loved the peak of their recognition in the car market virtually immediately after being introduced. They cashed in on the growth of the racing trend among the youth market, which was only a developing market in terms of spending power at the time. Benefiting from that trend, the manufacturing firms started to design tougher automobiles that appealed to the sense of aesthetics the youth market had and combined it with technical and performance stats that made them suited for street racing. While, initially, the implementation of the new designs and technical upgrades almost doubled the expenses of the car, many firms eventually developed "budget muscle" models that compromised some of the performance and design aspects in favor of reducing costs. In time, both the classic muscle car and budget muscle car designs were accepted into the market and started to drive their way into the American driver's psyche.

Unfortunately , statesmen caught on to the trend and effectively rubbed out the classic muscle car by indicating the intrinsic downsides of such powerful engines in vehicles being focused to the youth. Some opponents pointed out the proven fact that the muscle cars did not have the same braking and turning capacity as other autos and said that it definitely was a major safety risk. Insurance firms also increased their rates and charges on all high-powered models of automobiles, effectively making any prospective buyers turn away because the muscle cars were out of their budget. For the main part, the makes and models were retired, though some were reinvented as top end cars instead. Environmental concerns also commenced to wear away at the power of the muscle vehicle age as control over engine emissions was placed ahead of power and performance as the concern for engine design. Classic Cars

However, there have been some attempts at reviving the first classic muscle car. The Mercury Marauder, the Ford Crown Victoria, and even the Pontiac GTO are regarded as models intended to recapture the joys of the classic muscle auto years. While they have not yet come back with the same force they once had when they originally appeared, reports show there is still a market for them. Despite sharing the same attacks over ecological concerns the modern SUVs are getting, manufacturers are still manufacturing limited quantities of the modern muscle automobiles.

Looking for the best selection on Mustang Parts? It is the first automobile to unite the full capacity of a sport utility vehicle with the great benefits of a hybrid, which include excellent fuel economy and low environmental effects. It is similar in body and features to the earlier Escape, but is distinguished by its “Hybrid” symbol located in the rear. The vehicle’s most appealing feature is its fuel economy.

The 2008 Escape Hybrid can get an average of 34 mpg in the city, and 30 mpg on the highway. One of the ways it does so is by conserving gas when the vehicle is stopped or moving at slow speeds. In these instances, the SUV is powered by its electric system. Gas prices are the number one reason why people are switching to hybrid cars, and the Escape Hybrid definitely cushions the blow of the gas pump on your wallet.

There are other environmental benefits of driving the Ford Escape Hybrid over other vehicles. It has been rated as a Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle. The Escape Hybrid also contains an Eco-friendly interior. The cloth seats are produced using waste materials, which lessen the amounts of plastic and polyester fibers that would end up being dumped in a landfill.

The electric motor of the vehicle runs off a NiMH (nickel-metal-hydride) battery, and is constantly recharging each time the driver applies the brakes. As if all the environmental friendly aspects of the SUV weren’t enough, purchasing a Ford Escape Hybrid could also qualify you for up to $3000 in tax credits.

You can find out more information about Hybrid Cars at ProHybrid.com along with video news, reviews, and tools such as price quotes and an automotive loan calculator.
Tags: landfill, ford motor, sport utility vehicle, fuel economy, ford motor company, ford escape hybrid, ford escape, hybrid cars, nickel metal hydride, other vehicles, cushions, gas prices, waste materials, first automobile, loan calculator, environmental benefits, slow speeds

Stop by AmericanTrucks.com and check out their large selection of
Ford F150 Tonneau Covers.

2010 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG And S65 AMG

Powerful eight and twelve-cylinder engines are a traditional strength of AMG – and no less so than with the S 63 AMG and the S 65 AMG, the S-Class top-of-the-line models. Use one bucket to hold your clean suds, and another bucket to hold clean water. Before you dip your cleaning mitt into the clean suds, rinse it off in the clean water bucket and wring it dry. Then, you’re always putting a clean mitt into the clean suds that will go on your car. If you only use one bucket, you’re just moving dirt off of your car, into your suds and back onto your car. Some pros have started using the Grit Guard insert, a $9.99 tray that helps sediment settle to the bottom of your car wash bucket, instead of getting stirred up in the water and recollected on your wash mitt.

Secret #2: Join the Microfiber Revolution

We’re living the microfiber revolution. Pro detailers use color-coded, task-specific microfiber cloths and towels for greater efficiency, lower friction and scratching and easier washing, rinsing and drying. Mike Pennington, director of training and consumer relations for Meguiars, emphasizes that it’s important to wash your microfiber as a separate load, not mixed in with the regular laundry and rags. Microfiber will trap the lint from cotton towels, defeating the purpose of the wash. Use very little detergent and skip the fabric softener, which will coat the fibers and inhibit microfiber’s qualities. Double up on the rinse cycle, and your microfiber will perform at its best. Remove any labels and stitching before you use your towels to avoid scratching. And remember, you get what you pay for — those cheapo packs of microfiber from the warehouse store are not nearly as good as the ones you can find at online specialty stores.

Secret #3: Detail Your Trim First

This tip comes from Jim Dvorak, a product specialist at Mothers Polish. He suggests using a trim protectant/restorer like Mothers’ Back to Black before waxing your paint. Wash and dry your vehicle, then apply the trim protectant. The product will repel polish and wax that might otherwise stain your trim. Some pro detailers use masking tape to protect the trim during waxing — this application can help save time and cleanup.

Secret #4: Use a Buffer to Apply Product, a Towel to Remove

Consumers sometimes get confused by the name of the tool, and use a power buffer to remove wax or polish from the painted surfaces of their cars. A buffer can leave erratic swirl marks in your clear coat and paint if used to remove product, that’s not what it’s for. Use the buffer to apply wax, and then use a soft, dry cloth to remove it. You’ll avoid burning the paint or damaging the clear coat, and you’ll wind up with a thin, even coat of wax.

Secret #5: Get a Dual Action Polisher

For just a little bit more than you’d spend on a good direct drive polisher and an orbital polisher, you can get the perfect blend of both tools with a dual action polisher like the Flex XC 3401 VRG, which retails for around $280. Based in Stuttgart, Germany, Flex has been making tools since 1922, and has been building dedicated auto finish polishers since 1988. The XC 3401 VRG is detailer Randy Lowe’s favorite tool for exterior finishes. He says that it will handle 90% of the polishing chores you will encounter. Meguiars’ Dual Action Polisher ($149) is a little more consumer friendly, and a little less expensive than the Flex. It doesn’t have the forced rotation, which keeps the tool moving even under a heavy load. Forced rotation is a great feature for an expert who knows how to use it; in inexperienced hands, it can do more harm than good.

Secret #6: Use a Clay Bar System

This secret may be out of the bag already, but it’s such a good one that it bears repeating. There’s no better way to remove surface contaminants from paint than with a good clay bar system. Pros have been using clay for years, and consumer versions have been on the market for at least a decade. A good clay bar system includes a spray lubricant, usually a detailing spray, an 80 – 100 gram clay bar, and a towel. According to Mike Pennington from Meguiars, after washing and drying your car, you rub the clay bar on the paint to remove “bonded environmental contaminants” without removing paint thickness. The smoother paint surface takes polishing and wax better, and extends the life of subsequent treatments. Meguiars’ Smooth Surface Clay Kit retails for $19.99; Mothers’ California Gold Clay Bar Paint Saving System is $19.95.

Secret #7: Use a Plastic Grocery Bag to Check the Paint Surface

Hers’s another tip from Jim Dvorak at Mothers. Once you have cleaned your paint’s surface of contaminants with a clay bar system or other cleaner, it’s important to make sure that you’ve really removed all the dirt before you seal the surface with wax. Put your hand in an ordinary thin plastic grocery bag, and run it over the surface of the paint. The plastic bag will amplify any bumps and imperfections, so that you can go back and detail again. Keep rechecking until the surface is totally smooth, then polish (if necessary) and apply protective wax.

Secret #8: Dry Your Glass in Two Directions

Here’s a great tip from Meguiars’ Pennington: Dry your glass in two directions. Get into the habit of doing your final wipe of interior glass in a horizontal direction, and the final wipe on the exterior in a vertical direction. Then, when you find the inevitable streak, you’ll instantly know whether it’s on the inside (horizontal) or the outside (vertical) of the glass. You’ll get perfectly clear glass without jumping in and out of the vehicle chasing that streak.

Secret #9: Brush It First

Pennington says that when it comes to cleaning interiors, mechanical agitation is always better than chemical intervention. That means that your first line of attack is a good brush. For instance, before vacuuming your carpeting, de-mat the fibers by using a stiff nylon brush. Then, when you vacuum, the dirt will be free in the carpet, and will be much easier to extract. The same goes for door panels, though you’ll want to use a gentler brush. If more aggressive cleaning is necessary, start gently, use a gentle solution of fabric cleaner, and dry with a soft cotton cloth.

Secret #10: Make Static Electricity Your Friend

To remove stubborn pet hair from your cars carpets, put on a pair of latex gloves (readily available in boxes of 100 from any home improvement store) and then rub your hand over the carpet. The static electricity caused by the latex glove will help bring the pet hair up to the surface of the carpet for easy removal by hand or vacuum.

Secret #11: Leave the Headliner Alone

According to Pennington, there’s one part of the car that detailers avoid if at all possible: the headliner. Even a little bit of agitation can cause the glue in a headliner to fail, causing way more problems than it is worth. Keep your ministrations to a minimum when it comes to cleaning, brushing and tending to the headliner fabric. If you positively must clean your headliner, use very little moisture, and never allow it to soak through the outer fabric.

Auto detailing can be a great way to bond with your car, and to make your automotive investment go farther, last longer and look better. Also there is the issue of how deeply you will understand a product. You can get either some superficial knowledge or indepth detailed knowledge. You may not have the time to understand all of them fully but you should take time to understand them as much as you can.

To read more about this article visit best car detailing reviews

You can find a wide range of car aftermarket products at www.ilovebodykits.com

Cadillac Escalade Hybrid Review

What comes to mind when you think about the Cadillac Escalade? Good looks? Sure. Rap stars with lots of ‘bling’? Possibly. Fuel economy of 20+ miles per gallon? Doubtful, but that’s exactly what GM’s luxury division is hoping to change with the introduction of the Escalade Hybrid.

While shooting for 20+ MPG doesn’t seem very impressive at first, it represents an increased economy of over 50% according to Cadillac. That’s fairly impressive considering that the Escalade Hybrid hasn’t sacrificed an iota of the luxury and size that make it popular amongst 6+ foot tall sports stars and their entourages. Nor has the Escalade Hybrid eschewed much of its legendary utility; 2WD models can still tow 6000 pounds while 4WD models can tow an impressive 5700 pounds.

That’s not quite the abundant 8000/7900 pound towing capacities offered by the 2WD/AWD models powered by the 6.2L Vortec engine, but both of those models eek out a mere 12 MPG in the city.

The Escalade Hybrid pairs an advanced electric-drive system with a modern ‘high feature’ V8 capable of running on either eight or four cylinders as the situation demands. This gives the Escalade Hybrid excellent power when called for, and reasonable economy for city driving. The net result is that Escalade Hybrid owners won't cringe every time they see a gas station.

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; This engine differs from BMW's other six-cylinder engines due to the cast-iron cylinder head that is both compact and strong. The naturally-aspirated 24-valve power plant has an electronic throttle control and a six-speed manual gearbox with a heavy-duty clutch. It unleashes 330 horsepower at a stunning 7900 rpm. The engine has received the International Engine of the Year honour five years in a row.

The BMW Z4 M coupe comes with 18-inch alloy wheels; BMW M front and rear body-color bumpers with three air scoops in the front, diffuser in the rear and twin dual M exhaust tips. Headlight washers and heated windshield washer jets add to exterior conveniences. On the inside, comfort is offered by the standard automatic climate control with filtration. The car comes standard with an anti-theft AM/FM CD audio system with 10 speakers, and pre-wiring for a CD changer. The interior of the roadster boasts a sporting and exclusive look throughout. A sharp design and the very best materials give the interior a special touch. The overall look powerfully emphasizes the thrill of sports motoring.

2,996 cc 3.0 liters in-line 6 front engine with 85.0 mm bore, 88.0 mm stroke, 10.7 compression ratio, double overhead cam, variable valve timing/camshaft and four valves per cylinder N52

- Premium unleaded fuel 91
- Fuel economy
- Multi-point injection fuel system
- 14.5 gallon main premium unleaded fuel tank 12.1
- Power: 160 kW , 215 HP SAE @ 6,250 rpm; There are always the concerns over what happens if something goes wrong, and what possible redress you may have. Of course that’s not to say that we always trust any garage or car dealer that we may approach either.

Here are a few tips, things to be aware of, whenever and wherever you may be buying a used car.

* Always ask to see relevant documentation. This should include service history, vehicle registration and vehicle licensing certificates. If the car is pre-1993, ask for the log book.
* Confirm the year of the vehicle – date of first registration. Confirm also how long the seller has owned the car. There would be no concerns if it’s a number of years – if it’s a couple of weeks, you may want to ask why. Either they’re trying to get rid of the car quickly for some reason, or they may be be an unregistered dealer posing as a private seller.
* Confirm that the car is the sellers to sell. If selling on behalf of someone else, speak to that person. Ensure the car isn’t on hire purchase or lease – if it is, it isn’t the sellers to sell. If necessary, ask for proof of identity as well as relevant documentation.
* Has the car been crashed? A garage should tell you if a car has been crashed, though an individual may not, or be hazy regarding details or seriousness. You should check for telltale signs such as ripples in the bodywork, paint blobs from respraying or slightly different colour body panels. This shouldn’t necessarily stop you purchasing the car, as long are you are aware of the full circumstances. Possibly have the car checked out by a professional to confirm.
* Is the car a foreign import? This again is not necessarily a reason not to purchase the car. However, you should confirm that all liabilities such as VRT and VAT have been paid upon importation to Ireland. Any outstanding liabilities could fall to you as the future owner. Ensure that the car has no “quirks” that may be explained away because it is an import – such “quirks” may not comply with Irish legislation and be liable to prosecution.
* View the car at the sellers residence - Do not buy from a car park, a petrol station area or general public area (even if the seller says it’s for convenience) as it will be harder, if not impossible, to contact the vendor if a problem arises. Be wary of dealing with someone who is willing only to contacted through a mobile number.

Things to look out for when examining a used car:

* Tyres - Are they painted black to make them look better, or to cover up something?
* Interior - Is there a strong smell of air-freshner? Is this just good house-keeping, or is it trying to cover up some other smell?
* Body - Be aware that if you’re viewing the car in wet conditions, the rain may make it look shinier, newer, and help to mask scratches.
* Starting the Engine (i) – Be aware that the car may have been warmed up prior to your arrival to ensure a good start and minimum engine noise.
* Starting the Engine (ii) – Make sure the radio is off when starting the care – it may have been left on to cover up any dodgy noises as the car starts.
* Exhaust Pipe - Check the exhaust pipe for any carbon deposits as this may give evidence to a smoky engine.
* Baby Seats - Have been known to be added to cars to give the impression of them being sedate family cars rather than hard driven boy-racer types.

Basically there are 5 types of tires.

ALL SEASON - These tires are aimed for all four seasons, except heavy snow season. These tires do not have the proper rubber mixture and proper grip for the traction to be used in cold weather.

STUDDED SNOW TIRES - These are for snowy winter conditions. They are studded with metal particles embedded in them thus allowing better traction in snow and ice. The disadvantages are increased noise and decreased traction on dry and wet surfaces.

SNOW TIRES ? These tires for heavy snow conditions. These types of tires are manufactures with special rubber components to have more flexibility in heavy snowy weather. Snow tires have special grip blocks pattern for better traction.

WINTER TIRES ? These tires are designed for better traction in snowy and icy conditions. Their grip patterns and tire components are specially designed for winter conditions. These tires are less noisy and perform better not only in snow, but also in wet conditions.

MUD TIRES ? Mud tires are wide with bigger lugs. These lugs allow better traction at every rotation. These tires make very loud noise on the normal road. Mud tires are also good for rock climbing, sand and unpacked snow but do not perform well in icy conditions or in rain.

Be sure to swing by CorvetteGuys.com and check out their gigantic selection of
Aftermarket Corvette Parts.

Pics of the week

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; Sam is well respected for his cars performance and friendly racing attitude. Here is what he had to say bout his little BEAST !!!!!

Was always an avid Toyota fan and after much anticipation finally got an 1988 RSi. Bought it about 2 and half years ago. Did the 4agze conversion bout 1.5 years ago. It wasn’t well known then and I was about the first person in Durban to have it done. Car was originally dark grey but sprayed it silver. Interior is still original and seats covered in grey vinyl. Did extensive work on the car :

Gasflow , 268 cams , Perfect Power SMT6 chip (Fastcar Performance)
Front mounted intercooler, red powder coating and piping (Alpine developments)
Fitment of motor and regular maintenance (Victor –Toyota Motorsport Durban)
15’ Shadow rims
TRD LSD in std 4age gearbox
168mm oversized crank pulley to pick up supercharger boost to 0.7 bar
Toyota Tazz front bumper and Cressida lip, Induction system, BMC 80mm Cone, and bonnet scoop (Slick Cars Durban)
57mm exhaust system with Cowley 4 into 1 branches (Powerflow) –soon to be changed to 63mm
9 bar turbo fuel pump

The 4agze motor is a gem and can make great power if done correctly. The supercharger is pretty small but does the job. Standard boost is at 0.5 bar but I am boosting at about 0.7 bar. Performance figures are:

151Kw @ 7691 RPM
232 NM @ 4200 RPM

Check out AmericanMuscle.com and their huge selection of
Mustang Exhaust Systems.

Great help for car bloggers

Slick and sly has been featured on the world4blogs :-)

Hey guys just want to inform you bloggers out there that is is an amazing opportunity to get some exposure and extra traffic.
